From Ripples to Tidal Waves, Building Brave Swimmers One Wave at a Time
At Brave Waves Learn to Swim, we specialize in helping swimmers who feel fear, anxiety, or uncertainty around the water. Our goal is to teach more than strokes—we build confidence, safety, and independence while helping each swimmer overcome challenges at their own pace. From toddlers taking their first splash to young swimmers developing advanced skills, every lesson is designed to create a calm, supportive environment where trust can grow and fears can be replaced with confidence. We believe learning to swim is more than a life-saving skill—it’s a life-changing lesson in courage, resilience, and overcoming adversity. With personalized lessons, small group classes, and private in-home sessions, Brave Waves is dedicated to creating brave, confident swimmers who feel safe, capable, and excited to love the water—one wave at a time.

Wave 1 - Ripple
The goal of the Ripple Level is to build water confidence by developing comfort in the water, strengthening breath control, and establishing foundational kicking skills

Wave 2 - Splash
In our Splash Level, swimmers continue developing breath control and learn how to blow bubbles in the water. Floating skills are mastered and they're introduced to the assisted Breaking Wave skill (belly-to-back transition swim). This level also focuses on essential water safety skills and building confidence and comfort in the water.

Wave 3 - Tide
Swimmers will be introduced to kickboard swimming to develop strong horizontal body position and improve kicking progressions. They will continue advancing the Breaking Wave skill (belly-to-back transition) while building essential survival skills—such as changing direction in the water and safely returning to the wall, even after a backward fall.

Wave 4 - Crest
Now the focus shifts to developing foundational back skills, including back kicking, while continuing to build independence in the Breaking Wave transition. Swimmers will also begin practicing key survival skills, including treading water for 20 seconds.

Wave 5 - Surge
In our Surge Level, swimmers build momentum by developing freestyle skills and introducing side-breathing techniques. Treading endurance increases to 40 seconds, and back kicking progresses into streamlined back kicking to prepare for backstroke.

Wave 6 - Tidal Wave
In our final Tidal Wave Level, swimmers refine back skills as they learn backstroke, while continuing to strengthen freestyle technique and side breathing. Treading endurance is also increased to 1 minute.
One Coach, Consistent Progress, Real Water Confidence
Ms. Danielle founded Brave Waves Learn to Swim in Dade City to create something different: a place where swimmers—especially those with fear or anxiety in the water—can learn in a calm, supportive environment with the same instructor week after week. That consistency builds trust, and trust is where real confidence begins to grow. Specializing in turning fear into confidence, Ms. Danielle works with swimmers of all ages, from infants as young as 2 months to adults, meeting each person exactly where they are. Every lesson is paced individually, with essential water safety and survival skills woven into each session to build both competence and comfort in the water.
Swim lessons are not just recreational—they are life-saving education
Confidence and survival skills can dramatically change outcomes in water emergencies. Florida consistently ranks as one of the highest states in the U.S. for drowning incidents, especially among young children. Due to year-round water exposure (pools, beaches, lakes, canals), Florida has a higher risk profile than most states when it comes to accidental drowning. Many of these incidents happen during brief lapses in supervision or when children lack basic survival swimming skills.
